PLEIN AIR IMPRESSIONISM
A ONE-DAY WORKSHOP with ESTHER J. WILLIAMS

You will learn how to start and complete a poetic, plein air impressionism oil painting in this one-day workshop focusing on seascapes. In the studio, you’ll be introduced to the principles of composition, values, perception of light and color, how light creates form, atmospheric perspective, and the organization of mass and form. You will learn how to create gestural brushstrokes to give texture & feel. Finally, you will learn how to appeal to the emotions of the viewer through the properties of paint. Studio and Outdoors.
A lifetime student of art, Esther has studied fine art, art design, architecture, and fashion history in schools from New York to Los Angeles. Over the past 10 years she has focused on the study of California Plein Air Impressionism, joining the San Clemente Art Association, the Laguna Plein Air Painters’ Association, the Southern California Plein Air Painters Association and the California Art Club. Her work has been shown and sold in juried art shows, galleries, and festivals. Her artwork has won numerous awards.
